The World March begins at Km0

The World March begins at Km 0 of the Puerta del Sol in Madrid where it will return after ringing the Planet

Madrid, 2 of October of 2019, International Nonviolence Day.

A hundred walkers, some coming from other continents, were summoned at Km 0 of the Puerta del Sol in Madrid to symbolize the beginning of the 2 World March for Peace and Nonviolence.

They commemorated that 10 years ago, the same 2 / 10 international nonviolence day, began in Wellington / New Zealand the 1 World March that toured 97 countries and was supported by more than a thousand organizations.

The member of the international coordination of this action Rafael of the Rubia He said a few words that we reproduce below:

«Today 10 years ago on October 2, International Nonviolence Day, we meet in Wellington New Zealand, friends and friends from different parts of the world to start the 1 World March. This ended three months later at the foot of Mount Aconcagua, in the Punta de Vacas Park, in the Andes mountain range.

That march, against all odds, toured the 5 continents, was supported by thousands of organizations, institutions and hundreds of thousands of anonymous people. There we discovered that many stories were installed: those that speak of the bad and the good; of the different for their skin, language, clothing or religion. We discovered that all that created lie had the interest of generating fear, dividing and manipulating. We discovered that people were not like that and, above all, did not aspire to be that way. The majority dreamed of having a decent life, of being able to contribute the best to their loved ones and their community.

Today, here at the Puerta del Sol, we honor some of the parents of nonviolence: M. Gandhi, Martin L. King, N. Mandela and Silo. We also remember that this place gave birth to the last nonviolent movement that has emerged in these lands, the 15M.

As in Wellington, today in Madrid, a small group of people from different latitudes began a new journey, which aims to become the 2 World March. Today we also concelebrate the beginning of this World March for Peace and Nonviolence with many cities on all continents.

It should be said that this is not just a peripheral route through the skin of the earth. To that walk through roads, cities and countries you can add an internal tour discovering the recesses of our existence trying to match what we think with what we feel and / or what we do, in order to be more consistent, gain more meaning in our lives and eliminate personal violence.

Then friends and friends, in the coming months, we will always travel west following the solar star until we return to this same place, after circumvallating the planet.

Here we will meet the 8 of March of 2020, we will exchange and celebrate again.»

An hour later, the institutional act of commencement of the march that will last 156 days was celebrated in the circle of Fine Arts in Madrid. Finishing in Madrid the March 8 of 2020 International Women's Day.
