The Base Team at the University of Guayaquil

A true party was lived at the University of Guayaquil, Ecuador, with the arrival of the Base Team

A true party was lived at the University of Guayaquil, on December 12, 2019, with the arrival of the members of the Base Team of the 2ª World March for Peace and Nonviolence.

Rafael de la Rubia, Pedro Arrojo, Juan Gómez and Sandro Ciani, did not imagine attending so many events prepared by the different faculties of the emblematic University of Guayaquil, institution of higher education with the largest number of students in the whole country.

The faculties of Economics, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Communication, Agrarian Sciences, Physical Education, Jurisprudence, Psychology and Architecture organized several events, all of them framed in Peace and Nonviolence, as shown by some titles of the advertisements published in the Alma mater:

Art unites us and stops all manifestations of violence. Together we promote the culture of peace and the eradication of violence, among others.

Activities throughout the university citadel

The activities began with a march through the entire university citadel.

The Faculty of Philosophy was the starting place, they were joined by Economy and Physical Education.

Before making the tour, the students took the opportunity to take pictures and exchange ideas with the marchers.

They advanced to Physical Education where the rector's delegate, some deans and sub-deans of the participating faculties, teachers and students attended.

The lawyer Melvin Zavala Plaza, head of the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation (FEDER), was in charge of welcoming Rafael, Pedro, Juan and Sandro, with them were Sonia Venegas, coordinator of the events at the University, Patricia Tapia and Efraín León from the Asociación Mundo Sin Guerras y Sin Violencia who enjoyed the folk dance, human symbols and exhibitions prepared for this purpose.

I pass through the different faculties

Later, they went to the Faculty of Psychology where they could observe a photographic exhibition and in Architecture they talked with their authorities.

They had the same deference in the Agricultural Sciences.

The next meeting point was Mathematics, here an exhibition of photographs called "Structures that represent world peace" awaited them.

Several emblematic buildings were exhibited in this exhibition that originated the interest of the public. Then, they went to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences where an artistic festival was developed.

Reception by directors and musical demonstrations

Here they were received by their managers and participated in various musical demonstrations.

Finally, at 18:00 p.m. in one of the rooms of the Faculty of Jurisprudence, dozens of students and teachers gathered to participate in the screening of the film "The Beginning of the End of Nuclear Weapons" organized by the university on the occasion of the visit of the Base Team.

The public through this documentary was able to learn about the efforts to incorporate a treaty to ban nuclear weapons and the role of the international campaign for countries to unite in order to eradicate them. The fourteen interviews he presents left the audience inspired.
