The 2 World March for Peace and Nonviolence was presented by the mayor, Inés Rey in the town hall. The spokeswoman for the March, Marisa Fernández, and the rector of the University, Julio Abalde, participated in the event.

The City Council of A Coruña joined the March in the middle of April and declared the 2 day of October as Active Nonviolence Day in A Coruña.

The rector of the UDC Julio Abalde reaffirmed the will of the University "to work for peace and the elimination of inequalities and any sign of violence wherever they occur."

The spokeswoman Marisa Fernandez outlined the thematic axes of the March: Treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons, Plan for the eradication of hunger, Plan for Urgent Measures against all types of discrimination, Democratic Charter of Global Citizenship, incorporating the Earth Charter into the international agenda of the Objectives of Sustainable Development, re-foundation of the United Nations, and promotion of cooperation between movements, NGOs and parties to move towards a culture of peace and nonviolence.

The event was attended by numerous representatives of the organizations that will disseminate and carry out initiatives during the 5 months of the 2 World March (from 02 / 10 / 19 to 08 / 03 / 20)
