Peace and Nonviolence Forum, Germignaga

Framed in the 2ª World March for Peace and Nonviolence, the 15º Forum for Peace and Nonviolence was held in the Elioterapica Colony of Germignaga.

If for the 15º Peace Forum we wanted to choose a representative image, this would undoubtedly be a ray of sunshine: that ray that, at the opening of the Forum, which took place on the afternoon of Saturday 16 in November, at the headquarters of the Colonia Elioterapica de Germignaga (VA), illuminated a rainy and gray sky.

Coordinated by Maria Terranova of the Peace Builders Association

The forum, coordinated by the very active Maria terranova of the Association of Peace Builders, organizer of the event in collaboration with:

  • The High Verbano Promoter Committee of the Second World March for Peace and Nonviolence
  • The Upper Verbano Opera Community
  • Aurora associations
  • The Brenta Court
  • Hands Without Borders
  • Pressenza
  • Acoustic Dreams
  • The Popular Dance Group
  • The Makana and Ekonè company

It came true immediately with an exciting peace ceremony.

With the flags of all nations placed on the table, each participant received one from Martina Bonetti, calling loudly, along with the others present, for peace in the nation represented by the flag.

All the flags were placed around a small stela with the inscription, in several languages, «May peace reign on Earth«.

At the same time, in the sky, the most universal flag in the world appeared as if by magic: a wonderful rainbow.

Awards Ceremony XV International Poems, Vignettes and Peace Tales Contest

Subsequently, the prizes were awarded to the winners of the XV International Contest of Poems, Vignettes and Tales of Peace, this year even richer in prizes, from the oldest author of 96 years to the youngest, of 6 years.

The reading of the poems and the first classified stories was interspersed with the speeches of the Mayor of Germignaga, Marco Fazio, of the Councilor for Culture of the City Council Luino Pier Marcello Castelli and the intense musical interpretations of Acoustic Dreams, from Blowing in the wind by Bob Dylan, Fiume sand creek and Il pescatore de De Andrè, Second star to the right of Bennato to Imagine by John Lennon.

After a brief pause, consisting of a fair trade snack (offered by Gim Terre di Lago, the Luino Time Bank, the Aurora, Aisu, Lake Builders and Dsa associations), the presentation of the Second World March has continued. for Peace and Nonviolence, which began on October 2 from Madrid, will touch all the continents of the planet and will arrive in Varese and Alto Verbano on March 1 of 2020.

Screening of the documentary “The beginning of the end of nuclear weapons”

The moving documentary «The beginning of the end of nuclear weapons» de Pressenza, a wish and a hope, as well as a need and a push for the rulers of all the countries that have not yet ratified the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, is shown below.

The forum continued on Sunday 17 in November, with five intense initial minutes of meditation by Rosaria Torri and with very interesting Mandala workshops of gratitude to Mother Earth, with Martina Bonetti and Mosaics with Arend.

After the fair trade appetizer, the 2nd World March for Peace and Non-Violence was presented again and a very short video about the cycle of conferences was projected «The unstoppable crowd: Stories of the New World«, which will begin on Friday, December 6 and will continue monthly in the old Germignaga heliotherapy colony.

It ended with a beautiful moment of popular dances

The forum ended with a beautiful moment of popular dances, headed by maestro Franco Reggiori, because peace is also joy of life and life is movement, rhythm and harmony.

The XV Peace Forum was sponsored by the Province of Varese, the Community of Montana Valli del Verbano and the municipalities of Brezzo di Bedero, Cremenaga, Germignaga, Luino and Maccagno with Pino and Veddasca.

On Sunday there was also a handicraft banquet from the third sector of Colombia, led by Leonardo Valderrama of the Makana company and one of the peace books of the Constructores de Paz Publishing House.

During the two days, 100 euros of donations were collected for the project "Support for students and artisans without resources" in Lira (Uganda).
