Honduras: Universities and Media

Activities carried out by the World March Base Team in Honduras.

On November 19 and 21 the members of the Base Team of the World March Pedro Arrojo and Montserrat Prieto, accompanied by members of the local promoter team coordinated by Leonel Ayala, held various meetings with students from UCENM and USAP universities in San Pedro Sula and Ocotepeque.

In them, the young people were informed of the World March project and they were transferred proposals for reflection and active participation to implement from the university.

The days 20 and 22 were dedicated to meetings with various media.

On the day 22 had an intense day in Tegucigalpa by the hand of COPINH, the organization that led the indigenous leader Berta Cáceres.

Successive interviews with national media were organized in which Pedro Arrojo, Berta's partner and friend, denounced the impunity of the intellectual authors who ordered and financed his murder.

Arrojo presented his opinions and the positions of the World March on issues such as the environment, violence exerted from power and the role of civil society, activists and professionals in achieving a nonviolent society.

The previous day, the radio program “Sin Fronteras” of the radio station “La nueva 96.1 FM” had also dedicated its space to the World March for Peace and Nonviolence, interviewing the members of the Base Team and the Coordination Team of Honduras .

In addition, in the context of this trip, Pedro Arrojo held an informal meeting at the Spanish embassy with the ambassador and his wife.
