Indeed, that island with an area of 17 hectares, located three kilometers in front of Dakar Rally, declared a World Heritage Site by 1978 by Unesco, was for more than three centuries the most important starting point for slaves to supply the United States of America, the Caribbean and Brazil.

For the organization of the activities, we had the collaboration of David citizen of the island, with Mr. Diop, principal of the Leopoldo Angrand primary school for the mobilization of students on a holiday, and with the support of Mr. Tidiane Camara , Chief of Staff of Mayor Senghor.

In the square in front of the former Governor's Palace, the symbol was drawn on the ground and the boys themselves were highlighting it with wet sand while the little ones by the hand of the director of the school, formed into groups to take their place in the symbol.

A total of about 80 children together with the members of the team configured the symbol of peace in this way, ending with songs and slogans of «peace, strength and joy «.

Mr. Diop, on behalf of the mayor, then addressed a strong word to the team, naming Mandela and Kruma; He was eager to continue collaborating with the team of the 2 World March, coinciding in the role that new generations must play in raising awareness about peace and nonviolence.
