How a city can incorporate in its collective imagination the culture of Peace and Nonviolence

The activities scheduled in Londrina, Brazil, show how a city can incorporate in its collective imagination the culture of Peace.

There are many years that this city has been maintaining a calendar of activities for Peace.

This calendar, this year, coinciding with the 2 World March for Peace and Nonviolence, has been expanded and, by transcending the local, reinforces its meaning.

The activities are promoted by the Movement for Peace and Nonviolence

Within these scheduled events, we are going to highlight an event already concluded, the inauguration of Totem Peace Trail and Peace Culture Data.
Totem is a version of the educational didactic material created by Londrina Pazeando, to contribute to the implementation of Restorative Practices in Schools / Prevention of Violence - Law N ° 12.467, December 6, 2016 and will be integrated into the Knowing Londrina Project of the Municipal Secretary of Education.

We do it resembling Living Peace International, which is located in 161 countries and has more than one million children participating in the project.

Londrina's activities are linked to the 19 years of Peace Education work in the MDGs and the SDGs, but the basis is an Initiative Workshop for the construction of a culture of peace.

Another activity that we are going to highlight is the 11º hug in the Lake for Peace.

In this activity, which this year reaches its eleventh edition, it consists in surrounding the Lake of the city with a human chain that embraces it.

Finally, and not because not all events are remarkable, we are going to describe the event in which Londrina merchants receive the Seal "The weapon is not a toy".

Today there are 82 merchants in the city with the certification that identifies companies that do not sell toys similar to firearms.

This year, the certification has been granted to 34 merchants, inspected by the Municipal Secretariat of Finance

This year, certification has been granted to 34 merchants, inspected by the Municipal Secretariat of Finance after they requested to participate in the campaign. Of them, 13 requested the certificate for the first time and 21 renewed the application. The establishments can place the seal in a visible place and use it in their advertising for a period of two years, when it must be renewed.

This November 21 will be the ninth year in which the Seal is delivered to the merchants who requested it and have complied with the commitment.

Delivery of the stamp "The weapon is not a toy"

It can be seen with only these small examples that Londrina is a city that incorporates a culture of Peace as its own.
