ICAN organizations meet at the Peace Boat in Barcelona

On the occasion of the arrival of the Peace Boat in Barcelona, ​​last Tuesday, November 5, various ICAN organizations met at an event that brought together various initiatives and proposals related to World Peace.

The Peace Boat, the Japanese Peace Boat, is an active part of the ICAN (International Campaign for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons) campaign.

It aims to create an awareness of Peace, in its journey around the world, promoting human rights, respect for the environment and publicizing the consequences of the bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

This campaign is made up of a coalition of non-governmental organizations of international civil society that promote the adherence and full implementation of the TPAN (Treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons).

The documentary, directed by Álvaro Orús and produced by Tony Robinson, co-director of Pressenza.

He explains the history of nuclear weapons, their consequences and wants to raise awareness and raise awareness of the need to eradicate them.

Prior to the film's broadcast, cruise director Maria Yosida welcomed attendees, explained the objectives of the Peace Boat and the ICAN Campaign.

The Hibakusha, Noriko Sakashita, kicked off the act by reciting a poetry “Life this morning”, accompanied by Miguel López's cello, playing the “Cant dels Ocells” by Pau Casals, which tuned the audience in an emotional atmosphere .

At the end of the event, information was updated on the 2nd World March for Peace and Non-Violence, which began on October 2 in Madrid, and which has already traveled to some countries in Africa and is on its way to America. It will continue its tour of Asia and Europe, ending on March 8.
