A World of Peace and Nonviolence

“Do something more” is the phrase that stuck with me from the first preparations for the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence.

Last Saturday, the 4th, we confirmed that, by keeping this intention, “to do something more”, it has been possible to celebrate together with more than 300 people, the realization of this world march. A beautiful initiative that arose 15 years ago from the hand of Rafael de la Rubia and that is built from the simple action of tens of thousands of people in the world who, due to personal conscience and coherence, feel that “something more must be done” and that it must be done together.

World marches take place every five years, with the fourth one starting on October 2, 2029.

We have started 2025 in Vallecas by finishing one march and starting the next. Vallecas needs to do its part in building a world of peace and nonviolence. We have shown ourselves last year that, in a simple way, without overexertion, but with permanence and healthy ambition, we are capable of “finding ourselves, recognising ourselves and projecting ourselves” for noble causes. Thus, from this editorial we take on the challenge that 2025 be the year in which Vallecas resolutely commits to Peace and Nonviolence and demonstrates it publicly in many different ways and in an increasing manner.

The next challenge will probably be on Saturday, March 22 in the morning, again at the El Pozo Cultural Center and in the square opposite.

True actions are not complicated. Joint action is what opens up the future for us and is also what transforms us as human beings.

So let's celebrate that we have a whole year ahead of us to make our lives and our neighborhood an experience worth living and telling.

Let's go for a 2025 of Peace and Nonviolence!
