Activities on the Peace Boat, Barcelona

On the occasion of the arrival of the Italian sailboat "Bamboo" of the Exodus Foundation, which within the 2nd World March is sailing through different Mediterranean ports, with the motto "Mediterranean Sea of Peace" - for nuclear disarmament, dialogue between Mediterranean countries, human rights and the protection of the marine ecosystem, as provided for in the Barcelona Declaration (1995) – which will anchor in the port of Barcelona on November 3, 4 and 5, 2019.
And, coinciding with the stay in that port of the Peace Boat (anchored in the “moll adossat Carnival Terminal D” in Barcelona), the ship of the international NGO based in Japan that promotes peace, human rights and sustainability. Peace Boat is recognized as a special advisory entity by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations (UN).
The event that we present here will be held on November 5 from 2019 from 16: 00 to 18: 00, in one of the Peace Boat rooms consisting of the activities detailed below.
- Presentation of sailors in the Western Mediterranean with the sailboat Bamboo of the Exodus Foundation and the crew of the «Paper Ship«.
- Exhibition of images of the trip through the peace trees of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (Green Legacy Hiroshima and Kaki Tree Project).
- Exhibition of drawings on peace made by children from all over the world, in collaboration with the association «I colori della Pace» from Sant'Anna di Stazzema (Lucca), Italy.
- Screening of the documentary "The Beginning of the End of Nuclear Weapons" winner of the Accolade Global Film Competition, directed by Álvaro Orús and produced by Tony Robinson, from Pressenza International Press Agency.
To this activity, the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau and the Mayor of Granollers, Josep Mayoral Antigas, as well as Federico M. Zaragoza, former director grl. of Unesco and president of the “Peace Education” foundation, among other representatives of anti-nuclear associations.
And of course, we will have the presence of Hibakushas.
The General Coordinator of the 2 World March for Peace and Nonviolence, Rafael de la Rubia and former Congressman Pedro Arrojo will also be present.
