Ecuador present on the route for Peace

Sonia Venegas Paz and Gina Venegas Guillén are the only Latin Americans of the base team who embarked on the route for Peace and Nonviolence.

On behalf of the World Without Wars and Violence-Ecuador Association, Sonia Venegas Paz, president and Gina Venegas Guillén, member of the organization and photographer, sparing no effort and with the sole idea of ​​defending her ideals, embarked to Spain to make your dreams come true and write a new page in your stories.

This is the fourth time that Sonia Venegas participates in this type of conference.

His relationship with World without Wars and without Violence is over 10 years old.

The 1.a World March was his first experience, then the 1.a Central American March was the place to gestate with five Ecuadorian women the 1ª South American March that took place from the 16 of September to the 13 of October of 2018, where around 12 countries joined to say no to violence and yes to peace.

For Gina Venegas, on the other hand, it represents her second contribution, since she had a significant participation during the 1.a South American March.

 

Gina and Sonia started their journey in Madrid on October 2 of 2019

With this background, Gina and Sonia began their journey in Madrid on October 2 of 2019, International Day of Nonviolence and birth of Gandhi.

During their stay in the Spanish capital, they participated in the beginning of this expedition whose initiative tries to rescue the best of the diverse cultures and peoples of the Earth.

Bringing together the will of all civil society to definitively eliminate wars and generate a global social conscience against all forms of violence: physical, economic, racial, religious, cultural, sexual, psychological.

On October 6 they went to Cadíz, the oldest city in Spain, there they participated in the event “We Dance for Peace”, an event dedicated to art, music and poetry.

Sonia Venegas had the opportunity to share her learning as a university teacher and to express the interest and support shown by higher education entities in Ecuador on the subject.

The next stop was Seville

The next stop was Seville. In the Andalusian capital, it was the opportunity to exchange ideas and issues related to different cultures, ethnicities, nationalities and religions, and they also learned about the experiences of those who make up the base group and the coordinators of their reception.

Tanger, in Africa, was his next meeting place.

Several activities organized by the Humanist Embassy awaited them here, including a visit to a Moroccan radio station RTM and the 6th Humanist Congress “Force of Change”.

On this journey, Sonia as a representative of Ecuador received an orange award and a diploma that accredits her as a humanist ambassador for peace and nonviolence.

 

Marrakech was the next point of visit

Marrakech was the next point of visit. Our representatives participated in the Forum on Nonviolence and Convergence of Cultures, prepared for the Base Team of the march. Sonia Venegas had the opportunity to deliver the book of the 1st South American March to the president of the Bar Association and organizers of the event.

Tan Tan, door of the Sahara desert was another meeting place. In this place they were welcomed by different women's associations whose members work hard under humanistic guidelines, who welcomed the visitors with an extraordinary integration party.

Then they went to El Aaiún, here not only was the excellent attention given by the members of the association Solidarity and Social Cooperation, rather, they were amazed by the beautiful landscapes that they could see and of course, photograph.

 

During the act Sonia Venegas of World without Wars and Violence Ecuador took the floor as did Rafael de la Rubia coordinator of the 2ª World March who emphasized active nonviolence as a way to resolve conflicts in some areas of the world.

From Laayoune to the Canary Islands and from there to the Balearic Islands

They were also in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife, in the latter our compatriots participated in the events prepared at the University of La Laguna and the march through Puerto de La Cruz. Sonia had the opportunity to share her experiences and deliver the book of the 1st South American March.

 

The University of the Balearic Islands of Palma de Mallorca was their last destination, in this center of higher education, Sonia and Gina were attended by their vice chancellor who joined the world march and will also develop some activities.

 

On the other hand, Gina Venegas Guillén left recorded in images each one of the actions that were carried out in the places where the flag of the 2 World March was flown.
