The Base Team arrived in Koper-Capodistria

The International Base Team arrived in Koper-Capodistria, Slovenia, on February 26, 2020

On February 26, 2020, the base team arrived in the municipality of Koper-Capodistria (Slovenia) before entering Italy.

The delegation, accompanied by the triestino pacifist Alessandro Capuzzo, was received by the deputy mayor Mario Steffè.

Also present at the meeting were former Deputy Mayor of Koper-Capodistria Aurelio Juri and the president of the Italian community of Slovenia and Croatia Maurizio Tremul.

On that occasion, Alessandro Capuzzo submitted a request to the municipality of Istria to be assigned honorary citizenship to Aurelio Juri, who in 1991 managed to obtain with the Yugoslav army (in those days at war with Slovenia) a mediation for a peaceful withdrawal from the army of the city and no bloodshed.

Aurelio Juri himself then intervened telling the events of the time. The deputy mayor Mario Steffè then pledged to submit the request to the city council for later approval.
