We highlight the Forum “Women and Peace”

Although, of course, all the forums and plenary sessions were important in the sense of clarifying the progress towards peace from different areas, for our part we want to highlight the “Women and Peace” Forum, with the notable intervention of Rigoberta Menchú.

It is undoubtedly, on the one hand, a great challenge of today to stop gender violence and on the other to be able to value and promote the drive that women contribute in finding ways to resolve conflict peace.

Also the plenary “Four priorities for nuclear disarmament”

We also influenced the plenary “Four priorities for nuclear disarmament” with President F. de Klerk, María Eugenia Villareal (ICAN), Sergio Duarte (Pugwash), Ira Helfand (AIMPGN), Anton Camen (International Committee of the Red Cross) and Jonathan Granoff.

During his speech, President F. de Klerk demanded the total suppression of nuclear weapons.

We also highlight the plenary session “Global demographics, people on the move” that featured interventions by Liv Torres, executive director at the Nobel Peace Center, Rigoberta Menchú, president Lech Walesa, Joyce Ajlouny-American Friends Service Committee, Steve Goose – International Campaign to Ban Landmines, Mark manly-UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Wided Bouchamaoui (National Dialogue Quartet of Tunisia) and Karla Iberia Sánchez.

Lech Walesa, trade union leader and former Polish president, proposed that the only way to solve the problems was with the union and support of all those who want to solve them.

And that politicians and society in general should help people organize to solve all the challenges.
