Nouakchott, meeting with students in high school

Visit to the private school Al Ansaar neighborhood El Mina de Nouakchott

On the morning of Tuesday, October 22, the members of the 2 World March Base Team visited the Al Ansaar school-institute, at the hands of Cire Camara.

This private school is located in the popular neighborhood of El Mina de Nouakchott and it adapts its prices to the possibilities of the inhabitants of the area.

It welcomes 1116 students from 5 to 20 years, with 24 teachers for high school and 12 for elementary school.

The director Tijani Gueye, very dynamic and open, invited to participate in a mixed class of 5º degree (16-17 years). After some presentations Martine S. made a brief presentation of the 2 World March and its objectives; then R. de la Rubia emphasized the importance that these new generations take those values in their hands, generating collaborative behaviors between them instead of competitive ones as it is being promoted from the system.

They were asked by which countries they knew about Africa, evidencing the desire to know more. The issue of insecurity and wars in some areas of the continent also emerged. There was a very interactive dialogue between all students, principal, supervisor and the MM team.

In another building, the elementary school area was visited, amid the bustle of children running around in the street as it was recess - class hours are from 8 to 14 with two breaks at 10 and 12 - and in the principal's office , a very fruitful exchange was maintained not only with Tijani Gueye but also with the general supervisor Saydou BA and with the head of the cultural club Ansari, Bocar Mako who promoted him with other alumni 2 years ago to help open up to other activities.

He was interested in the topic of Ethical Commitment to implement it, as well as the possibilities of providing tools such as nonviolence workshops and supporting twinning with other schools, particularly one in Madrid in Spain.
